Since their first accreditation in 2000, SPEKTRA have continuously expanded and improved their scope of performance and quality parameters. SPEKTRA will continue to do so also in future and follow the progress in engineering. Every suggestion by our customers is welcome; it will help us develop market-oriented services and offer them in response to the demands.

Extension of accreditation in acoustics to sound level meters
Optical sensors as calibration objects for acceleration
Download certificate
Extension of scope of performance in acoustics to the calibration of sound level meters according to DIN EN IEC 61672,
extension of range of calibration objects in acceleration to optical devices
Starting now, you can submit your sound level meter to SPEKTRA to have it DKD calibrated, also in conjunction with a periodic test according to DIN EN IEC 61672-3, including a comprehensive set of electrical tests. The results are certified in the form of a DKD calibration certificate; an additional certificate of conformity may be issued on request.
The frequency range of free-field calibrations of sound level meters and measurement microphones was extended to cover 125 Hz to 20 kHz.
Pressure calibration by the comparison method can now be performed in the frequency range 31.5 Hz to 2 kHz with a DKD certificate.
Some amendments and extensions were made in the field of acceleration. Optical sensors, among them laser vibrometers, are named explicitely as calibration objects and the measurands vibration velocity and vibration displacement are explicitely included in the scope of accreditation. So are calibration systems; now they are integrated in the scope of accreditation as possible calibration objects, too.
All signal conditioners – thus also charge amplifiers – may now be calibrated up to
50 kHz with a DKD certificate.

First accredited calibration laboratory in Europe for primary calibration with respect to measurand acceleration - Calibration of measurement microphones and acoustic calibrators
Apart from the national institutes of metrology, SPEKTRA is the first accredited calibration laboratory in Europe authorized to issue DKD certificates for the primary calibration with respect to measurand acceleration in the frequency range 0.4 Hz to 20 kHz. The method of calibration is based on ISO 16063-11. Laser vibrometer standards can so be calibrated with an extremely small uncertainty.
In addition to that, shock excitation can be used for acceleration calibration according to ISO 16063-22 at amplitudes up to 200 gn, the result of which will be certified by a DKD certificate.
As from now, measurement microphones as well as acoustic calibrators, pistonphones and multi-tone calibrators can also be calibrated, the result of which will be certified by a DKD certificate. The calibration is based on the requirements for microphones according to IEC 61094 and for acoustic calibrators according to IEC 60942. Measurement microphones can be calibrated in an acoustical free field in the frequency range between 250 Hz to 20 kHz. Thus acoustic measurement instrumentation can be calibrated for the first time under conditions that are in line with the standardized requirements for sound level meters. No conversion of pressure into free-field sensitivity is needed any more. Microphones of any shape and size can be calibrated.

Scope of accreditation extended to include measurement amplifiers
Bringing the QM (quality management) system in line with ISO 17025, extension of frequency range for acceleration and extension of accreditation by including signal conditioners
As from now, the SPEKTRA DKD Calibration laboratory meets all requirements laid down in DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. With that the calibration results of our laboratory are recognized and accepted all over Europe and worldwide.
For measurand acceleration, the accredited frequency range was extended to cover 0.4 Hz to 20 kHz according to ISO 16063-21 (still a draft at that time).
In addition to sensors, the scope of calibration objects now includes also signal conditioners and measurement amplifiers such as charge amplifiers or ICP® amplifiers, the electrical characteristics of which can be calibrated individually in the frequency range 0.4 Hz to 20 kHz or 50 kHz and the results of which will be certified by a DKD certificate.

First accreditation for acceleration
First accreditation for measurand acceleration - a great success
Being a manufacturer of calibration systems for acceleration, SPEKTRA took the logical step of applying for the accreditation of its own instrumentation, the CS18 Calibration system, by Deutscher Kalibrierdienst DKD for measurand acceleration.
As from now, acceleration sensors, vibrometers and vibration calibrators can be calibrated in the frequency range 1 Hz to 10 kHz, the result of which will be certified by a DKD certificate.
The extended frequency range starting from 1 Hz, a feature needed e. g. for human vibration measurements, is available already now after the first step of accreditation.
