SPEKTRA acquired APS Dynamics
APS Dynamics, Manufacturer of Vibration Shakers & Systems,
is Acquired by SPEKTRA

SPEKTRA has acquired APS Dynamics, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of vibration shakers and systems for modal test excitation, low frequency calibration and component test. SPEKTRA will continue the long-established tradition of producing high-performance shakers that have made APS Dynamics the leader in the industry for more than 35 years. News Release

CS 18 data base
Easier and more comfortable administration of Calibration data

Easier and
more comfortable administration of Calibration data SPEKTRA
developed an additional option for our customers having CS 18 calibration
systems. This can be added to the standard version. All data
concerning calibration of sensors etc. can be stored in this data base and
handled comfortable. The results are descriptively representable and can be illustrated
in curves. A user
administration helps besides to setup different access possibilities for the
employees. The data
base is already in use by some customers with very positive feedback.

Increased manpower in engineering / special design

After the successful graduating at the Dresden
Technical University with a Dipl.-Ing. degree in engineering with
specialization in applied mechanics Martin Iwanczik will join the SPEKTRA Team
henceforth. The calibration exciter has been developed together with other colleagues
for a dynamic calibration of accelerometers and force sensors to extend the
efficiency by calibration services and CS 18 calibration systems. The Diploma
thesis titled “Development of a resonator to calibrate accelerometers” would
have been completed with excellent result.

New software for CS18 FF
CS18 FF with new software version for calibration in acoustical free-field

The latest software version of the
CS18 FF system is based on the experiences from preparing our first accreditation
for acoustical quantities and accreditation extension to include sound level
meters. This software version is available as from now.

Air conditioning of all office, laboratory and production rooms

In addition to the rooms of the
accredited calibration laboratory that have been air-conditioned from the very beginning,
all other workrooms have now been furnished with air-conditioning, too, so as
cope with the growing demands for quality assurance in the departments of incoming
goods, manufacture and environmental simulation. Thus our experts in the
development and sales departments and the office can keep cool also in extended
summer periods with high temperatures outside.

New calibration exciter SE-09
Air-bearing high frequency shaker type SE-09 opens up new calibration ranges

When calibrating acceleration sensors, particular attention must be paid to the vibration exciter as an important component part of the calibration system. The quality of the SPEKTRA CS18 HF high frequency calibration systems could be further increased only by developing a suitable vibration exciter SE-09.
The result by far outperforms all solutions that have been available so far.

New high-shock exciter HOP
High-shock exciter HOP for extension of calibration range of shock sensors

The high-shock exciter can be used as a single component HOP or as a part of a complete CS18P HOP Primary or CS18 HOP Secondary Calibration System to calibrate shock sensors. Excellent reproducibility, automatic control and wide range of application up to 100.000 gN mark out this exciter.

Increased manpower in acoustics, enhanced activities

After graduating at the
Dresden Technical University with a Dipl.-Ing. degree in acoustics Andreas Kunadt
has joined the SPEKTRA team. Being an acoustics engineer, he will further be
the responsible expert for the extension of acoustical calibration services as
well as the CS18 FF/SPL calibration system and engineering services for
acoustical test systems. The Diploma thesis titled "Calibration of intensity and
sound velocity probes in an acoustic free-field" will expand SPEKTRA calibration capabilities in the near future.

Integration of ThermoStream or ThermoJet prepared

The compressed air supply
system was renovated and expanded with the aim of meeting the demands of
environmental tests and calibration runs using ThermoStream or ThermoJet. As a result, a
central compressor can supply air at a rate of up to 10 litre per second to a ThermoStream
or ThermoJet unit. Investigations into the temperature response of test objects
are thus made possible in the range between -75°C and 225°C and with temperature
gradients of up to 18 Kelvin/second. Compressed air that has been dried and
cleaned is available for calibration tasks.
